Blue Flame Collective Presents “Writing Women”

During Shakespeare’s time, there were no women in the acting companies and boys played their roles on stage.  It wasn’t until the mid-17th century that women could perform for the public.

Our very own Lauren MacKinlay, member of Toronto’s Blue Flame Collective film production community, is putting the spotlight on women in another way – through the Writing Women initiative.

Writing Women is a screenplay development series focused on stories about women.  Through September and October, screen writers have submitted their original short-film screenplays.  16 of these screenplays will be chosen and developed over two months, with the help of professional actors and mentors from Canada’s film and television industry.
