Featured Intern: Chelsea

Greetings all,

My name is Chelsea, and even though it wasn’t my original intention I’ve somehow been consumed by the wonderful world of theatre. My love of Shakespeare started years before my love of theatre, when I about nine years old and found an old looking book at my grandparents’ garage sale. I asked my Grandpa if I could keep it – he had no idea what he was doing when he said yes.

When I was three, I told people I wanted to grow up to be a dolphin. I didn’t think much of my future until a couple summers ago when I decided to study theatre after performing, volunteering and teaching.

As a result, this time next year I’ll be in Quebec at Bishop’s University where I plan to major in Drama and minor in Education. That’s right folks- I’m fresh from high school and making the best of my gap year at Shakespeare in Action (as well as filling my time with too many other things to list).

I must say, I prefer our office to the ocean, that’s for sure. You don’t get to meet amazing people and do meaningful work as a dolphin.

I cannot express how amazing it feels to give back to the community that has done so much for me. Hopefully, Shakespeare in Action can inspire others youngsters like myself to give theatre a shot.

This is what I look like when I'm sorting through files: up against a wall, completely surrounded, with a crazy look on my face

It was an Everyman’s Library copy of Shakespeare’s comedies, published in the early 1900s
