The Shakespeare Challenge
Step into the Spotlight!
And they're off! Support our Champions and give the gift of theatre to at risk youth.
Shakespeare in Action believes that Shakespeare and theatre should be accessible to all youth. The Shakespeare Challenge is our annual fundraiser and monies raised through this event go to our programs that support access including our Adopt-a-School program, ticket subsidy program, the TD Shakespeare for Kids Library program and the Shakespeare Fight Club.
This year we've recruited 11 Toronto professionals to put on a shotgun performance of Shakespeare's The Tempest. The Champions get only 6 rehearsals and one dress rehearsal before they perform on February 23rd at The Arts and Letters Club of Toronto!
But that's not it! In addition to their tempestuous task, each participant has committed to raising $2500 each for the event!
We encourage you to support them by donating to each individual through their giving pages listed below.
- Ora Ross
- Suzanne Manvell
- Rogene Reid
- Dewitt Lee
- Natasha Kurd
- Jessie Behan
- Lindsay Baxter
- Lars Classington
- Alex Strauss
- Cam Sedgewick
You can also buy tickets to the event on February 23rd through Eventbrite. Tickets are just $40 (tax deductible) and include the performance, silent auction, food and music at the historic Arts and Letters Club of Toronto. Doors at 7pm. Show at 7:30pm.
The gift doth stretch itself as 'tis received, Alls Well That Ends Well, II, 1.
