Student Workshops
Our team of professional and experienced actor/teachers bring our innovative approach to teaching Shakespeare direct to your classroom! Workshops explore Shakespeare’s world, demystify his language and give students the necessary tools to analyze the play both as a work of literature and performance. Workshops are tailored to meet your needs, and are participatory and high-energy.
We can build our workshops around any Shakespeare play, and cater to any school grade. Workshops are available either in your school, or at our downtown location.
The minimum for each workshop is 22 students. If you have more than the maximum 30 students, we can work with you to negotiate a workshop that better meets your needs.
Workshops follow four streams:
- Shakespeare for Elementary Students.
(Up to 30 students per workshop – 75 minutes). Using a series of innovative games, storytelling activities and interactive language exercises, our professional actor/teachers introduce young students to Shakespeare’s life, times and plays. We can either focus on one particular play, or offer a more general workshop. - Shakespeare Masterclass for English Students.
(Up to 30 students per workshop – 75 minutes). This hands-on workshop decodes Shakespeare’s language and makes action the primary means of understanding the text. We make Shakespeare’s text accessible and relevant. - Acting Shakespeare for Drama Students.
(Up to 30 students per workshop – 75 minutes). Through a series of lively acting, voice and text exercises, this workshop introduces young actors to the physical clues inherent in Shakespeare, helping them transform the work from page to stage. For students of all ages. - ESL Shakespeare.
(Up to 30 students – 75 minutes). For many ESL students, studying Shakespeare is a daunting and seemingly impossible task. In this workshop, our specially trained actor/teachers work to connect students to the rhythm, images and broad thematic ideas found in Shakespeare’s works.
