SIA POLICIES

COVID AND MASK POLICIES

Due to the ever changing state in cases of COVID-19 in Ontario, and SIA’s desire to offer in-person programming, we are establishing policies to keep audiences, staff, artists, and volunteers safe. Our policies have recently been developed, please see them below:

Beginning November 1st, 2021, Shakespeare in Action will require proof of vaccinations, or proof of an exemption, for every person (aged 12+) upon entry to our studio and performance spaces (this includes Artscape Weston Commons), and SIA’s office.

We are requiring staff, artists, audiences and volunteers to be fully vaccinated 14 days prior to attending SIA’s studio space, performance halls and/or our office. SIA will accept electronic, paper records or a vaccine receipt as proof of vaccinations.

Exceptions will be made only for those who provide proof of exemption as required by Ontario. In addition to proof of exemption from vaccinations, SIA will require proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of being in-person. COVID-19 tests must be privately paid and can either be a PCR or rapid test (antigen), administered by a healthcare professional (including a pharmacist), and completed within 72 hours of attending SIA.

Masks are still mandatory to be worn throughout SIA’s studio space, performance halls, including the Artscape Weston Commons, as well as our office, and for a duration of all foreseeable performances.

Masks may be pulled down temporarily while eating and drinking, but should not be removed for extended periods of time.

This policy will be constantly reviewed on an ongoing basis for future shows and programs. All updates to this policy will be made public on our website, through our newsletters, and across our social media platforms.

Please Note: No health record information will be scanned, stored, or shared.

Paper and electronic records from your clinic or pharmacy showing your name and date of vaccination will be accepted. Vaccination receipts can also be printed and can be accessed through the Ontario government website.

Please Note: No health record information will be scanned, stored, or shared.

We are working with the SIA team, Artscape Weston Commons, Ontario government resources, and local community organizations to ensure we are addressing any facility and/or process changes that might be required to create a safe and welcoming environment. This includes increased cleaning of touch points across SIA spaces, hand sanitizing and washing stations available for use, an updated mask and vaccine policy, reduced capacity for performances, digital playbills, digital ticketing, and reduced public access to SIA spaces. We will continue to monitor our measures so that we can ensure the maximum steps we are taking in order to keep everyone safe.
