6 week Zoom workshop

A workshop for ages 13-17

Mondays starting Nov 16th

Join writer and performer Gugun Deep Singh as he guides you through the process of creating exciting stories for the stage.

In this 6 week course student writers will:

-play cooperative games

-learn the 10 essential structural terms for play writing

-work with Gugun to develop a 5-6 page playscript.

Week 1: Participation Agreements! What makes a good story? What sort of story do you want to tell?

Week 2: Beginning to talk about the 10 elements of the toolkit, and how they help your audience invest in the story…

Week 3: Action and Conflict! Who is your Hero? Who or what stands in your Hero’s path? How does your Hero deal with failure?

Week 4: Obstacles and Climax! What’s the most creative way for your Hero to get past their final obstacle? How do they change as a result of achieving their goal?

Week 5: Editing is Everything! Take a second look at your script – are all the elements there, are they used effectively, does it make sense?

Week 6: Presentations! Participants will be encouraged to share their polished drafts, or direct how to have their creation read…

Meet our actor-educator Gugun Deep Singh

Gugun Deep Singh is a performer, producer, writer, and teaching artist who works across the United States and in Canada. He trained at conservatories in Chicago and New York, and presently lives in Toronto . He believes that learning oughtta be fun, and fun oughtta be motivating. He likes dogs but not as much as dogs like him. He loves factoids, and if you ask nicely, he’ll probably share one with you.


Weston Young Theatre Makers Access Fund

The Weston Young Theatre Makers Access Fund supports low-income children and youth who live in/around the Weston community, by offering subsidized spots and in some cases full scholarships to Shakespeare in Action’s performing arts classes, run out of our studio at the Artscape Weston Common.

Are you interested in supporting access for the next generation of Weston’s young theatre makers? Consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Weston Young Theatre Makers Access Fund by clicking HERE and noting “Access Fund” in the donation message or by adding “Weston Young Theatre Makers Access Fund” to your registration, at which point you may choose an amount to donate. All money received will go towards subsidizing the fee for SIA’s performing arts classes.

Refund Policy and Cancellation

Registrants may cancel their registration up to two weeks before the classes begin. Cancellation requests must be delivered in writing via email to The fee will be refunded less a $25 administration fee (Please note, the PayPal processing fee is also non-refundable).

Cancellation requests within two weeks of the class start date, or after the classes have commenced are not eligible for refunds.

Shakespeare In Action reserves the right to cancel entire course due to low enrolment. In that case, all participants will be fully refunded.

As Shakespeare In Action employs professional working actors, we reserve the right engage substitute instructors when necessary.

In the event of inclement weather or another emergency, Shakespeare In Action will make all attempts to contact parents/guardians at least one hour prior to the beginning of the class in order to inform them of any change.
