Eliza Martin is a theatre artist, writer, arts educator, and child and youth counsellor (M.A. CYC). She has had the privilege of working with children and youth in a variety of roles for over a decade. Her work has spanned outdoor education, early childhood education, enhanced support education, community arts, child and youth mental health, and arts education. Outside of her work with Shakespeare in Action, Eliza has taught in classrooms as a guest artist, for Children’s Arts Theatre School, her own company Queen Bees Arts Education, and Purple Carrots Drama Studio, offering accessible art-based programming specialized in diverse neuro and physical abilities. On-stage Eliza works as a professional actor and award-winning solo performer, having written and performed three one-woman shows: O (2014, 2016, 2017) and Harvey & The Extraordinary (2017) and BLOOM (2019). Eliza is an alumna of the 2013 Hangar Theatre Lab Academy in Ithaca, New York, and a graduate of the Theatre and Drama Studies program at the University of Toronto and Sheridan College (Theatre Specialist, English Major). Eliza also holds a masters in Child and Youth Care from X University. Eliza’s first children’s novel Harvey and the Extraordinary, published by Annick Press, will hit bookshelves in November 2021. At present, Eliza works in child and youth mental health, and as a guest artist, leading creative workshops around the city.
