Classes for ages 4-7

Through this 8 week virtual and interactive theatrical program, participants will work with one of our professional Actor-Educators.

Using drama, language arts, movement and music, this course is designed to introduce our youngsters to unique ways to express themselves creatively, explore character creation and storytelling.

Culminating in a one of a kind, in-house, zoom theatrical showcase.

Meet our actor-educator Zita Nyarady

Zita Nyarady is a dance, theatre and circus artist. She has worked on projects with Shakespeare in Action, Anandam Dance Theatre, Theatre Passe Muraille, Nightwood Theatre, Pilobolus Dance Theatre, Nightwood Theatre, Rhubarb Festival, Native Earth, Theatre Direct, Look up Theatre, Hercinia Arts Collective and Odin Teatret. Zita is a graduate of Dell’arte International and is a PhD candidate in Performance Studies at York University. As co-artistic director of The Grand Salto Theatre Zita’s award winning interdisciplinary performances have been presented across Canada and Internationally. Zita was the 2017/18 Dramatist in Residency at The Heliconian Club in Toronto, is in the Cirque du Soleil performer database and is the mother of an awesome toddler.

Weston Young Theatre Makers Access Fund

The Weston Young Theatre Makers Access Fund supports low-income children and youth who live in/around the Weston community, by offering subsidized spots and in some cases full scholarships to Shakespeare in Action’s performing arts classes, run out of our studio at the Artscape Weston Common.

Are you interested in supporting access for the next generation of Weston’s young theatre makers? Consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Weston Young Theatre Makers Access Fund by clicking HERE and noting “Access Fund” in the donation message or by adding “Weston Young Theatre Makers Access Fund” to your registration, at which point you may choose an amount to donate. All money received will go towards subsidizing the fee for SIA’s performing arts classes.

Are you a child, youth, parent or guardian who would benefit from a subsidized ticket price or scholarship? Please email education@shakespeareinaction.org for more information. Subsidized prices and scholarships depend on support received to the Weston Young Theatre Makers Access Fund.

Refund Policy and Cancellation

Registrants may cancel their registration up to two weeks before the classes begin. Cancellation requests must be delivered in writing via email to education@shakespeareinaction.org. The fee will be refunded less a $25 administration fee (Please note, the PayPal processing fee is also non-refundable).

Cancellation requests within two weeks of the class start date, or after the classes have commenced are not eligible for refunds.

Shakespeare In Action reserves the right to cancel entire course due to low enrolment. In that case, all participants will be fully refunded.

As Shakespeare In Action employs professional working actors, we reserve the right engage substitute instructors when necessary.

In the event of inclement weather or another emergency, Shakespeare In Action will make all attempts to contact parents/guardians at least one hour prior to the beginning of the class in order to inform them of any change.
